Thom Yorke + Burial’s Ego.

Cannot stop listening to this. Everything Burial touches turns into swelling, beautiful, electronic goodness.

daniedangertm asked: FUCK YES. HIPSTER STATUS IS SO HIGH RIGHT NOW FOR US.

When am I seeing you next? Ready for Austin?! Oh, you're going to have so much fun. Meesh you, boo.

Haha, I know, right?!

Unfortunately I’m not going to Austin anymore…my driver (Jansen) wasn’t feeling up to it :(

It’s all good though. I’ve been sitting in my backyard reading all day…

Miss you too! I should be free during the day tomorrow if you want to maybe get tea?

wordsalad-plz asked: HEHEHEHEHOOHOHOHOHO! this is santiclawssssssss
someones been on the naughty list this yearrrr

alright, enough of that. i guess i should just get down to buisness and 'ask you something'. hmmmm oh. okay.... when you shave your legs do you go from foot up or thigh down? and in what direction. what parts do you accidently skip most often. SERIOUS QUESTION.

I love and miss you chachi...

Hahahaha. I love you- I missed you and your questions!

I go from foot and move up. I usually accidentally skip my ankles for some reason, and end up with cute little hairs awkwardly poking out of my gym socks. Adorable. What about you? HOW’S ROME?!?!?! I want stories!

January Update

So I realize it’s been forever since I last posted…finals, winter break and such happened. However, the beginning of the semester brings new things- and I can already tell that this semester is going to have fantastic happenings in the music department here in DC. So far, a few things:

- I was fortunate to see Yo La Tengo perform last Friday at the 9:30 Club on their crazy concept tour! At the beginning of the show, they brought out a giant game show wheel, which determined the set that they would play. It could have been anything- entire albums, a sitcom acted out by the band and the crew. A lucky audience member spun the wheel, and they ended up playing The Sounds of Science, a score they made for filmmaker Jean Painleve’s underwater documentary. For the second part of their show, they played a normal set, which was awesome.

- I snagged an interview with Gregg Gillis of Girl Talk in two weeks, which should be a great talk. I want to know where he came up with the awesome idea to mash Portishead and Big Boi together…

- I’m working on an independent arts and culture publication- a side project of The School of Washington, a literary and cultural magazine here at GW. I’m going to specialize in writing about music, local shows, and more! Stay tuned…

- Finally, the most exciting of all…it’s looking as though I’ll be attending the 2011 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival with my brother and best friend this May! Headliners include…ARCADE FIRE, Wilco, The Strokes, and Robert Plant…enough said.

Dissolve- Presume Too Far.

Sleepy Sunday shoegaze. Mmm.

Okay, so I realize that I keep raving about neo-psychedelic Perth, Australia band Tame Impala, whom I just had the privilege to both interview and see perform at the Black Cat on November 16th here in DC. But they’re just so goddamn fresh, I can’t help plugging them in more posts on my tumblr. Their trippy, their guitar riffs drip with the nostalgia of a 70s acid trip, as well as the artistic sensibilities of Kevin Parker, who was studying to be an astronomer, make for spectacular undertones. Anyway, here’s a new video of their single “Expectation,” off of their standout debut Innerspeaker. Enjoy the forest!

Dilemma…

First of all, I’d like to start out this post congratulating the National Academy of Recording Arts and Scientists for doing something seriously right- nominating Arcade Fire for Album of the Year for The Suburbs. That album had a huge impact on me late last summer, and I’m glad it’s getting well-deserved rewards and respect for it considering how incredible it is.

But anyway, my dilemma…two bands I like are playing on the same night. This seems to have happened a lot lately…I missed Best Coast with Cults the night that I already had a ticket to see California neo-psychedelic band Sleepy Sun. So this Saturday, I have the option of either going to see The Antlers at the Black Cat, or rising stars Warpaint at the Rock and Roll Hotel for free…this is a tough one. I love The Antlers’ Hospice, but I missed Warpaint at ACL and have been itching to see them live- especially since they’re headlining a hot New Year’s Eve party in Houston over winter break that I might go to. Decisions, decisions…what should I do?

Are You a Ghost, Bill Murray?

bandabear:

Faster demo of a song I made this summer.

One of my good friends, Drew, aka Banda Bear has been making incredible music lately reminiscent of Deerhunter, Slowdive, and My Bloody Valentine with a splash of Boards of Canada. Here’s a song that can best be described as reaching the peak of happiness.
